Why Hemp? Our New Sustainable Print Store.

Hello Solside fam,

We are so excited about the launch of our brand new print store, showcasing some of our favourite moments from our journeys on the road, whilst travelling through the beautifully diverse landscapes of Australia. From tropical waterfalls to sunset surfs, each photo tells its own unique story and is sure to add a touch of wanderlust to your home.

It is crucial to the team here at Solside Studio, that our art does not cost the earth. Therefore, every print is made to order and printed on sustainable material at a 100% carbon neutral print studio.

After countless hours of research, we have decided to print on Hahnemuhle Hemp. Made up of 60% hemp fibre, known to be one of the oldest & most diverse natural fibres in the world, it reproduces colours & details beautifully, with a lightly textured surface & overall silky feel. Hemp fibre is also known to be extremely robust, making the prints high quality & long-lasting.

Other advantages of hemp include -

- The hemp plant is fast growing & undemanding, making it easy to grow in a variety of soils & climates.

- It is a deep rooted plant known for improving soil quality & needing little water to thrive.

- It does not need any pesticides, herbicides or fungicides to grow.

- A field of hemp can produce up to 5 times the amount of paper as a forest of the same size.

- Every part of the plant can be used including leaves, stems & seeds.

- It captures carbon emissions & has a high carbon dioxide uptake.
